He graduated from St. Petersburg University (Department of History). He studied singing in Italy, then, on his return, he improved with M.I. Glinka , revolved in a circle of Glinka and Puppeteer . In 1837–38 he sang in the Russian opera ( Petersburg Bolshoi Theater [1] ), performed the part of Sobinin in Glinka 's opera Life for the Tsar . He became famous mainly as a chamber singer - performer of the romances of A. E. Varlamov , A. S. Dargomyzhsky , M. I. Glinka, who dedicated to him kavatin “How long have you luxuriously blossomed with a rose”. A.P. Lodius himself is the author of several romances, among which the most famous is "Where are you, happy days." However, his voice, in spite of grace, was weak, and after marriage he entered the service of an executive in the State Assignation Bank [2] and at the same time was teaching. In 1859-1861 he taught in the music classes of the Russian Musical Society.

Son - singer Peter Lodius ; granddaughter - singer Zoya Lodiy .
