Commander of the Order of Distinction (Jamaica)

On June 14, 2013 it became known that the doping test (test A) made on May 4 gave a positive result - the banned drug diuretic was found in her blood. Sample B was also positive. In the near future, the IAAF should make an official decision, if the information is confirmed, then it will face a two-year disqualification [1] .

Born in a family of ten children. She graduated from high school in Jamaica, then in 2006 the University of Arkansas ( Eng.University of Arcansas ) in the United States.

She first performed at the Olympic Games in 2000 in Sydney , where she won the silver medal in the relay team of Jamaica in the relay race 4 × 100 m. At individual distances, she was not included in the team. In Athens in 2004, Veronica Campbell won three medals, two gold at a distance of 200 meters and in the relay 4 × 100 meters, in which she performed only in the final race. At a distance of 100 meters, she received a bronze medal. Four years later, in Beijing, she repeated her success, becoming the champion in the 200-meter race, and set a personal record of 21.74. The women's team of Jamaica in the relay 4 × 100 meters, which consisted only of athletes who had already received Olympic medals, was the favorite of the competition, but was mistaken in the final race when passing the baton and was disqualified. Veronica Campbell-Brown was supposed to run at the last stage. In the 100m race at the national selection, she finished fourth and did not enter the team; it should be noted that in this discipline three Jamaican athletes took three first places at the Olympic Games.

At the 2005 Helsinki World Championships in Helsinki, Campbell, as the reigning Olympic champion, was a favorite in the 200-meter race, but she only finished fourth. But she managed to win two silver medals, in the 100 meters race and as part of the relay team. In 2007, in Osaka, she won a gold medal at a distance of 100 meters, and again two silver medals - at 200 meters and in the relay.

In 2007, Veronica Campbell married teammate Omar Brown, a graduate of the University of Arkansas. Spouses live in Clermont, Florida, USA .
