Biography
Born on June 22 ( July 5 ), 1912, in the city of Petergof, St. Petersburg Province (now Petrodvorets District , St. Petersburg , Russia ) in a working class family.
Member of the Soviet-Finnish war (1939-1940) .
The shooter of the 255th rifle regiment (123rd Infantry Division, 7th Army, North-Western Front) Red Army soldier Sergei Yakovlev distinguished himself in battle on February 11, 1940 when the main line of Mannerheim line was broken east of Khotinnen.
Moving ahead of the company with the red flag, the fearless Soviet soldier carried the fighters along with him. The first to be at the height, he hoisted a flag on it, which contributed to the overall success of the hostilities.
The brave fighter of the Red Army fell to the death of the brave in battle on February 27, 1940 .
By decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated March 21, 1940 "for exemplary performance of combat tasks of the command on the front of the struggle against the Finnish White Guard and for showing courage and heroism" the title of Hero of the Soviet Union was posthumously awarded to Red Army soldier Yakovlev Sergey Khrisanfovich.
He was buried in the vicinity of the village Gavrilovo Vyborg district of the Leningrad region .
