Biography

In 1948 , he acted as deputy director for science at the newly created Institute of Precision Mechanics and Computer Engineering, USSR Academy of Sciences [1] .

In the 1950s taught the theory of machines and mechanisms at the Penza Industrial Institute together with B. A. Trakhtenbrot , during which time he co-authored with him the monograph Introduction to the Theory of Finite Automata (Moscow: Fizmatgiz, 1962 ; English translation 1965 , German and Czech translation 1967 ) [2] .

Since 1959 , again in Moscow, he headed the newly created Department of Computer Engineering at the Moscow Engineering and Economics Institute (now State University of Management ), then taught at the Department of Economic Cybernetics [3] . He worked as deputy chief of the Main Computing Center of the State Planning Commission of the USSR , in the fall of 1963 he led the first working commission, which was to develop the concept of the Unified State Network of Computing Centers (EGCC), which subsequently transformed into the idea of a National Automated System for Accounting and Processing Information (OGAS) [4] .

Creativity

Issued several monographs. In the 1980s Together with A. D. Smirnov and E. Z. Maiminas, he wrote the textbook “Economic Cybernetics”, according to which economists and mathematicians in Russia and other CIS countries studied for many years. Textbooks of N. E. Kobrinsky are still in demand [5] [6] .

As a popularizer of science, in 1959 he published a book “Faster Thought” (2nd edition 1963 ), written in collaboration with Victor Pekelis , consisting of three relatively independent parts: “Mathematics and Life” (about computational mathematics), “The Machine Counts” (about computer technology) and “Machine“ thinks ”” (about cybernetics ). In 1969 , in collaboration with his brother Aron Kobrinsky, he published in the book series "Eureka" the book "How Much Does a Person Need?" (2nd edition 1972 ), explaining the principles of organization and operation of control systems in machines and in economics.
