Biography
Studied at Moscow State University [1] [2] .
In the 1950s, he led the campaign to tighten the political regime in the DPRK [3] . In the mid-1960s, was considered as a possible head of state [4] . In the summer of 1975, Kim Yong-joo, at that time the former secretary of the Central Committee, a member of the Politburo and vice-prime minister of the Administrative Council, suddenly disappeared. In the early 1990s, he again appeared in the top leadership of the country [5] . In 2009, at the first session of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly of the 12th convocation, he was elected Honorary Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the DPRK DPRK [6]

Rewards
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme National Assembly of February 9, 2012, he was awarded the Order of Jong Jong Il along with other officials [7] .
