VT220 is a text - based computer terminal manufactured by DEC from 1983 to 1987. [1] [2]
Hardware
VT220 is an enhancement to the VT100 series of earlier terminals. The keyboard is redesigned in it, it is more compact than its predecessors and has a much faster microprocessor .
Several VT2xx models were pyramidal in shape, allowing them to be placed on the table so that the display surface could be at a certain angle to the user (this angle could be adjusted). And, since the display was below the user's head, these terminals were quite ergonomic.
VT240 and VT241 are VT220 variants that can display vector graphics. VT241 had a color display.
Software
The VT220 was designed compatible with the VT100, but some of the added features made it more successful in the international market.
