Story

1

Silva Varescu - the prima variety show Orpheum, in which the future prince Wellerheim, and now the young, proud Lieutenant Edwin, falls in love. His love pushes into the background all conventions in matters of origin and social status. Edwin and Silva fell in love so much that the young prince was ready to go against even the will of his parents, who had read him a profitable party.

Meanwhile, parents do not lose time in vain and, having learned about their son’s hobbies, accelerate their engagement to Countess Countess Anastasia Egenberg, and do it secretly from him.

Edwin's mother, Princess von Wellerheim, arrives at Orpheum, accompanied by his superior, General von Ronsdorf, who notifies Edwin of his transfer to another regiment. He understands that this was done with the participation of his parents, in order to lead him away from Silva as far as possible. Therefore, before the forced transfer, he, in the presence of a notary, engages in Silva directly in the variety show and only after that hurriedly leaves for the regiment.

Meanwhile, Bonnie appears in the variety show, a longtime friend of Edwin, who had already received an invitation from Ronsdorf to betroth Edwin and Stassi and, horrified, decided to get drunk. He is incredibly surprised by Silva’s engagement ceremony. In response to questions that have arisen, he shows an invitation, claiming that Edwin is already engaged, which throws all of the audience into bewilderment and shock, and most of all Silva herself. The latter is disappointed in love, believing that it was just fun in the hands of a titled boyfriend, and completely surrenders to her career, agreeing to the Paris tour that impresario Ferry arranged for her.

All newspapers write about Silva’s triumph in Paris, one of which catches the eye of Edwin, who, in turn, considers Silva’s tour, contrary to their betrothal, pre-planned and in retaliation decides to speed up the betrothal from Stassi.

At the ball in the house of von Wellerheim, the whole color of society gathered. Parents Edwin and Stassi can not look at the apparently successful union of their children. Everything goes perfectly as long as the unexpected three of guests - Silva accompanied by Ferry and Bonnie - do not appear on the holiday. Introducing his companions, Boni calls Silva his wife, Countess Kancianu. Prince Wellerheim responds positively to the appearance of the titled guest, and Edwin reacts negatively, considering Boni and Silva traitors.

Bonnie meets Stassie with a look and loses her head in love. He completely forgets about Edwin, Silva, the purpose of the visit, and more. Before him is only Stassi. Edwin is looking for a reason to meet with Silva and is trying to clarify their relationship. Prince Wellerheim boasts of his pedigree. Stassi's father, Count Egenberg, uses tricks to hide from his wife and skip a glass or two. And Princess Wellerheim begs Ferry not to reveal the secret of her past in variety shows.

It seems that the fate of the lovers is decided: Bonnie finds a common language with Stassi, Edwin is inspired by Silva's loyalty to him, “Countess Kanchianu”. Most of all, he is satisfied with the possibility of a conflict-free resolution of the issue by future marriage, not on a variety show actress, but on a “divorced titled person”. But Silva, who hurriedly leaves the Wellerheim house, completely disagrees with this situation.

A small conspiracy of Bonnie and Stassi brings all the heroes together in the famous Orpheum. While Ferry convinces Edwin to come to Silva, Bonnie convinces her that Edwin decided to shoot himself. At the moment when Bonnie asks into the receiver (after unplugging the phone from the socket): “What should she [Silva] tell her?” Edwin, who had just entered, replied: “Tell her that I love her, I love!”. Meanwhile, Miksa, angered by the possible (according to Silva) negative attitude of her alleged mother-in-law, also a variety show singer in the past, tells Prince Wellerheim that the artist in his family is already in the person of his own wife, after which the prince, coming from such a fraud in extreme indignation, the princess makes a serious conversation and is forced to give her consent to the marriage of Edwin and Silva. In turn, the parents of Stassi, the countess and Count Egenberg, bless the daughter’s union with Bonnie.
