The stem is spherical or oblong, dark green with a gray coating, may cluster. The papillae are 4-6 faceted, up to 1 cm long. Milky juice is secreted on the fracture of the stem and papillae. The tops of the papillae and axillae are covered with tangled white hairs.
The central spines are 3-4, they are long, strongly curved, all about 2 cm, one, the most curved, up to 5 cm long. Radial - 5-10, these spines are white with brownish tips, wavy, up to 0.8 cm long.
The flowers are pink-red, small, located in the form of a wreath on top of the stem. Plants are not transplanted annually, only if necessary. They easily reproduce vegetatively , usually by “children” that appear on the stems, as well as by seeds. Fruits are berry-like, ripen in the 2nd year, 1-3 cm long, red or bright pink. The seeds are small, from red to brown.
Endemic to the Mexican state of Puebla . Grows in dry deserts . They love a lot of light, almost all of them not only tolerate direct sunlight, but also require it.
Mammillaria are highly susceptible to damage to the red tick.
