Biography
He graduated from the electrochemical department of the St. Petersburg Electrotechnical Institute (1918). In 1921 - 1925 he taught at the Department of General Chemistry at LETI .
In 1928-1947 he taught at the Moscow Electromechanical Institute of Railway Engineers and at the same time in 1933-1946 he headed the department of welding at the Moscow Higher Technical School [2] .
In 1945 - 1948 and after 1963 he worked at the Institute of Electric Welding of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR. In 1948 - 1952 he worked at the Institute of Structural Mechanics of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR. Since 1952 he worked at the Institute of Electrical Engineering of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR. From 1947 to 1958 - professor of the KPI . Doctor of technical sciences (since 1940 ), academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (since 1945 ), member of the Presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukrainian SSR (since 1953 ), corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (since 1953 ).
For the first time in the world, he created and put into practice the processes of electric arc welding and cutting under water , which are widely used in the restoration of bridges and ship repair. He developed power sources for arc and resistance welding, ceramic fluxes, electrode coatings, methods of cold pressure welding, gas pressure welding, plasma cutting. He contributed to the development of cast iron welding, gas press welding, and flaw detection of welded joints.
One of the organizers of the training of Soviet welding engineers.

- Stalin Prize of the second degree ( 1946 ) - for the scientific development and implementation of methods of electric welding and cutting of metal under water, which are widely used in the restoration of railway bridges and the repair of warships
