Biography
Tom Wilkinson was born in Leeds ( West Yorkshire ) into a family of urban farmers [2] [3] . Economic difficulties forced the family to leave for Canada for a while when Tom was small [4] . After returning to England, Tom entered and graduated from the University of Kent at Canterbury with a degree in English and American literature . He also attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts [5] .
Married British actress Diana Hardcastle in 1988. The family has two daughters: Alice ( Alice , born 1989 ) and Molly ( Molly , born 1992 ).

For the first time he began acting in television and cinema in the mid -1970s , mainly playing heroes suffering from emotional depression and claiming a public role.
He was widely known in the world for the films “ Male Striptease ” by Peter Cattaneo , which appeared in 1997, and was nominated four times for the Academy Award; Oscar and Lucind by Julian Armstrong and Wilde by Brian Gilbert .
The role of the authoritative lawyer Arthur Edens, suffering from bipolar affective disorder , which Wilkinson played in the thriller Michael Clayton , brought the actor the second nominations for Oscars and Golden Globes.
