The Hungaroring also became the "forge" of the first victories for Button, Alonso and Kovalainen.
This will be the 24th race in a row taking place in Hungary, one of the longest runs in Formula 1. The race was the debut for the youngest pilot in the history of Formula 1 Grand Prix, the Spaniard Jaime Alguersuari (on the day of the race he was 19 years old and 125 days), who replaced Sebastien Burde in Scuderia Toro Rosso . [2]
Following the first victory at the German Grand Prix, Mark Webber renewed the contract with Red Bull for the 2010 season. [3]

During two Friday practices, both McLaren cars coped better than the other teams, Williams and Red Bull were close to them. Heikki Kovalainen (1st and 2nd), Lewis Hamilton (3rd and 1st), Nico Rosberg (2nd and 3rd), Mark Webber (4th and 4th) and Kazuki Nakazima (5th and 5th) were successively successful.
Toyota, Renault and BMW showed average times, Force India and STR showed the worst lap times, while Ferrari showed mixed results, having worked well in the first practice and not very in the second.
Saturday practice was again left to Mclaren and Lewis Hamilton, who showed at that time the best time of the weekend. The second time was shown by Nick Heidfeld, and the third by Nico Rosberg. Behind them was another McLaren pilot Heikki Kovalainen, Sebastien Buemi on Toro Rosso and Timo Glock on Toyota, while pilots Ferrari and Brawn showed middle times.
Qualification
In the first part of the qualification, Jaime Alguersuari made his qualifying debut in Formula 1, which culminated in mechanical failure and last place on the grid.
Qualification was interrupted due to a serious accident that happened with the Felipe Massa car, which at full speed crashed into a tire barrier at the end of the second session. On the repetition of the accident it was evident that a suspension element had hit his helmet and Massa had lost consciousness. [4] This incident is similar to the accident of the FIA Formula 2 pilot Henry Surtis , who died due to injuries after a wheel flew into his head at a stage in Brands Hatch . Rubens Barrichello suggested that the chip belonged to his car, and reported that Mass was conscious. [5] It was later reported that Massa is in stable condition and will be delivered by helicopter to the hospital. [6] . Later it turned out that it hit the 800-gram spring from Rubens Barrichello suspension. [7]
Towards the end of qualification, the official timing system refused and the pilots remained unaware of the pit lane, asking each other for the set time. When the system started working again, it turned out that Fernando Alonso set the fastest time and earned his first pole position from the Italian Grand Prix in 2007 . [8]
Ferrari confirmed that Massa will miss the Grand Prix due to an accident. He received a forehead cut, a cranial bone injury, and a concussion and remained on examination at the AEK Hospital in Budapest. [9] He was successfully operated on. [7]
