Interesting Facts
"Green Acres" is the first television show in which the opening song is performed by major actors.
Piglet Arnold is the only one from the film crew who was awarded a prize for participating in it. He won the 1967 Patsy Award as Best Animal Actor.
At the end of the 12th episode, Lisa offers to name the little girl in honor of Oliver's mother - Eunice. The mother of the newborn, the cow, is called Elenor, as is the actress Elenor Audley, who plays Eunice Douglas.
Before the "Expanse" there were two more series on the "village" theme. These are "The Beverly Hillbillies" and "Petticoat Junction", in the wake of the success of which producer Paul Henning did not even have to make a pilot episode of the new "thirty minute" - "Green Acres".
Together with colleague Jay Sommers, they used the ideas of the 1950s radio series Granby's Green Acres, where a large family moves from town to village. Many of the actors in The Open Spaces play The Beverly Hillbillies and Petticoat Junction, all with the same characters. For example, Bea Benaderet also plays Kate Bradley, the niece of the rude Mr. Carson (Benadere also played in “Granby's Green Acres”), Edgar Buchanan himself uncle Joe Carson, Frank Cady - Sam Drucker, Eddie Albert - Oliver Dougle. d.
