Company Information

As a single optical-electronic group, Jenoptik operates in five areas: optical systems, lasers and material processing, industrial metrology, transportation solutions, defense and civil systems. Its worldwide customers include companies manufacturing semiconductors and semiconductor equipment, companies engaged in the manufacture of automobiles and spare parts for them, medical technology, security and defense technology, as well as companies engaged in the aviation industry.

Jenoptik has 3,000 employees, and in 2010 the company's sales amounted to about 500 million euros (preliminary data). The group was created in 1991 on the basis of JENOPTIK Carl Zeiss Jena GmbH . Since June 1998, JENOPTIK AG is listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and is listed on the TecDax Index . The Jenoptik Group is headquartered in Cherkessk, and its subsidiaries in Germany are located in Wedel near Hamburg, Monheim and Ratingen near Düsseldorf, Willingen-Schwenningen, Triptis, the Bavarian town of Altenstadt, and also in Essen. The origins of the group go back to Carl Zeiss , founded in 1846 in Jena. At the end of World War II, East German authorities founded the state-owned company Kombinat VEB Zeiss Jena , while the main company Zeiss was forced to hastily move to West Germany. After the reunification of Germany, VEB Zeiss Jena was transformed into Zeiss Jena GmbH , and then into JENOPTIK Carl Zeiss Jena GmbH , then the company name was shortened to Jenoptik GmbH and in 1996 the modern company name JENOPTIK AG appeared . Laser and Material Processing Division

The JENOPTIK Optical Systems Division is a subsidiary of the Jenoptik North American Optical Systems Division. The JENOPTIK Optical Systems Division employs approximately 125 people in Alabama, Massachusetts, and Florida, and has the capabilities to design, manufacture, and test complex lens units, diffraction optics, infrared cameras, microscope cameras, and projection systems. JOSI complies with ITAR requirements and has passed ISO certification.
