Yuja Tea
Yuja tea ( cor .. ? , 柚子 茶? Yuja-cha) - Korean traditional tea . It is based on yuzha citruses ( cor. 유자 ? , 柚子? , Jap. 柚子 yuzu). Yuja fruit is a hybrid of bitter tangerines and lemons . The bitter fruits of Yuja are canned and sprinkled with sugar in a 1: 1 ratio. The resulting syrup is diluted with hot water.
Usage
This drink was drunk at the courts of Korean kings , it is produced today, sometimes acting as a folk remedy for colds.
The Legend of Yuja in Korea
According to Korean legend, Yuja was brought into the country by a man named Changbogo (장보고) . The fruits supposedly broke during a storm, and the seeds fell into Changbogo's raincoat, after which they were sown in all parts of Korea, which he visited on his own business.
