Friedrich Wildgans ( German: Friedrich Wildgans ; June 5, 1913 , Vienna , Austria-Hungary , November 7, 1965 , Mödling , Austria ) - Austrian clarinet player , composer and music writer.

Born in the family of the famous poet, director of the Vienna Court Theater Anton Wildgans , he studied piano (with Paul Weingarten ) and the violin, from the age of 12 he studied music theory and composition under the guidance of Josef Marx , from 17 - he began to master the clarinet. In 1934 - 1936 he taught clarinet playing, chamber ensemble and music theory at the University of Mozarteum , from 1936 to 1939 - clarinet soloist of the Vienna State Opera Orchestra . In 1939 he was arrested by the Nazis. After the war, he worked at the Vienna Academy of Music ( 1945 - 1947 and 1950 - 1963 ), headed the Austrian section of the International Society of Contemporary Music .
In the works of Wildgans, the influence of Hindemith and Stravinsky is noticeable. He cultivated melodism, polyphony and a clear texture, but also used polytonality , atonality , and serial technique . Most famous were his instrumental compositions. Wildgans owns a number of articles in the Österreichische Musikzeitschrift and the book Anton Webern , published in London in 1966 . He acted as a clarinet player.
