As an LGBT activist, Luxuria became one of the leaders of the Circolo di cultura omosessuale Mario Mieli movement in 1993 . She was one of the organizers of the first pride parade in Italy on July 2, 1994 , in which about 10 thousand people took part. In subsequent years, Luxuria became more actively involved in the political and social events of Italy . She collaborated with the well-known Italian newspapers L'Unita and Liberazione, as well as various radio stations and television channels, and was involved in charitable activities, in particular taking care of children with leukemia . Luxuria donated 100,000 euros to the United Nations Children's Fund from her prize in a reality show .
On April 10, 2006, Luxuria was elected to the Italian Parliament from the metropolitan region of Lazio , being the second on the local list of the Communist Revival Party after party leader Fausto Bertinotti . During the election campaign, she was actively attacked by extreme right-wing and conservative politicians. Among the election promises of Luxuria was the legislative recognition of same-sex civil unions , the provision of political asylum to LGBT refugees from countries in which homosexuality is prosecuted by law, she also dealt with cultural and environmental issues. She occupied the deputy chair until April 14, 2008 , when the Left-Rainbow election list, which included the PCB (and Luxuria in particular), did not go to parliament in the next election.
