Jules Devakez began his career in 1915 at the Saint-Denis Club. During a game in the Olympics, Devakez made his debut in the French national team in a match on January 18, 1920 against Italy , in which the French were defeated 4: 9. After the match with Italy, despite the defeat, Devakez became a solid player in the foundation of the national team, participating in all the games of the French in 1920, including two matches of the 1920 Olympics in Antwerp .

In the summer of 1924, Devakez moved to the Olympic Marseille club in the same season, but already in 1925 Devakez participated in the famous match of England-France on May 25, when the British were forced to finish the match nine times after two injuries of their players, but still managed to to keep the victory 3: 2, but Devakez scored one of the two goals of the French, he was able to injure the goalkeeper of the English Freddy Fox , after which he left the field at the 75th minute of the meeting. In 1926, Devakez won his first title with Marseille, the French Cup, and a year later repeated his success. Devakez went with the French team at the 1928 Olympics to Amsterdam , but there the French lost to Italy 3-4. 1929 was the last year for Devakez in a T-shirt of the national team, he played two matches: May 9 against England (defeat of France 1: 4) and May 17 against Belgium (again defeat 1: 4), for the French team Devakez spent 41 matches and scored 12 goals, 4 times he led the team to the field with a captain's armband.

In 1930, Devakez moved to the Nice club, in which he received the status of a professional football player in 1932, and a year later went to the Bezier club, in which he served as the team's playing coach and completed his sports career.
