Sarah is unlike other children, she always thinks and dreams of something unusual. Sarah's mother died very early, and her father, leaving for service again, leaves the girl to be raised in a boarding school for noble maidens Miss Minchin.

Suddenly, just on Sarah’s birthday, the sad news comes from India - Captain Crewe died. Attitude to Sarah, who used to be a beloved student, is changing dramatically. From a luxury apartment, she is sent to the attic and made into a servant, the same as her new friend Becky.

After some time, Mr. Carinsford, a close friend of Ralph Crew and his colleague in the excavation of diamond copies, comes from India. He and his servant Ram Dass long sought Sarah and eventually found.

They become owners of diamond placers. Now Sarah is again a very rich girl. However, she remained still sweet and kind to all around.

Filming

The film was shot in Yalta. According to the memoirs of Lyanka Gryu : “I wanted to get the role of a princess, but I was approved for Becky. I cried all night and told my mother that I would refuse filming. In response, my mother invited me to tell the director about this decision. It was probably funny from the side when the seven-year-old girl tried to explain to the director why she was giving up the role ... Grammatikov listened and seriously explained for half an hour why I should play Becky. And convinced. These shootings in Yalta became one of the most vivid memories for all my 24 years of work in the cinema ” [1]
