Biography
Born into the family of the famous translator and librettist Mark Grigorievich Yaron, the son of a veterinarian from Odessa , and the opera singer Eleonora Yakovlevna Melodist, daughter of a military conductor from Poltava .
He studied at the drama school of the St. Petersburg Literary and Artistic Society (he graduated in 1912), after which he was accepted into the troupe of the St. Petersburg Small (Suvorinsky) Theater. He debuted in 1911 in the operetta. In 1915–1926 he played in theaters in Petrograd , Kiev , Odessa , Kharkov , Moscow . In 1927 he became one of the founders of the Moscow Operetta Theater and its first artistic director (head of the artistic part), worked there as an actor and director.
He was buried in Moscow at the Novodevichy Cemetery [2] .
Creativity
Yaron - an outstanding artist of the Soviet operetta, who possessed an original creative imagination, masterfully mastered the techniques of the slapstick , eccentrics , the grotesque . Among his most famous roles are The Undertaker (“The Grooms ” of Dunaevsky ), Count Kutaysov ( “The Kholopka” of Strelnikov ), Popandopulo (“ The Wedding in Malinovka ” by B.A. Alexandrov ), Hermann (“Rose-Marie” by Stokhart and Freemlya), Penizhek , Pelikan, Volapuk (“Maritza”, “ Princess of the Circus ”, “Silva” Kalman ).
As a director, he performed a number of notable productions of Soviet and foreign operettas, among which are “The Princess of the Circus ” (1927), “Silva” (1941), “Maritza” (1943), “Violet of Montmartre” (1954) Kalman, “ Wedding in Malinovka ” B. A. Alexandrov (1937, premiere), "On the Bank of the Amur" Blanter (1939), "Count of Luxembourg" Lehar (1960).
He performed on the radio as a presenter of lectures and concerts dedicated to the works of J. Offenbach , I. Kalman, I. Strauss (son), F. Legard, I. O. Dunaevsky (in 1950–1960s). He put on the radio a large number of montages of classic operettas with the participation of leading artists, opera and operetta soloists. He wrote the book "On the favorite genre" (1960, 2nd edition: 1963). He starred in the movie " Mr. X " as a waiter Pelican.
