Story

The Rooks Brothers is a family gang engaged in robbery.

After the next criminal episode, as a result of which the driver of the car was killed, as well as the inspector of the traffic police, the police managed to detain the gang members. The younger brother, Alexander Grach, was involved in criminal activity under pressure from the authority and personality of his middle brother Victor. Victor’s son-in-law, Leonid Osadchy, also participated in the plan to kill the driver of the Zhiguli Usov. Victor was sitting in the car to the right of Usov’s driver, Leonid Osadchiy was sitting behind the driver, Alexander was next to him. After the murder, the Rooks family decides to move to Krasnodar . However, the police are following in their wake, and Viktor has already noticed the surveillance, after which they decide to temporarily “run away” with Osadchim. Victor and Alexander run together, but they are detained in a restaurant, which immediately before that is performed the more than characteristic song “Engagement Ring” : Alexander is detained on the street when he was waiting for his brother, and Victor, noticing this, tries to sneak out through the back room, but there they manage to block all the exits - and Victor quickly comes across. When trying to detain the Rookie’s accomplice, Leonid Osadchy, he tries to shoot along the roofs of houses, using guns, and Leonid, being injured, dies: falls from the roof of the house. At the trial, Viktor claims that he was supposedly sitting behind Usov, while Leonid Osadchiy was sitting next to the driver - but this statement is refuted by presenting direct material evidence of the murder - the knife with which it was committed. Victor is sentenced to death, Alexander - to five years in prison with a sentence in a penal colony. And the judge, having arrived at the Rooks' old house, is trying to understand how they turned into criminals.

Storyline

It is widely believed that the plot of the film was based on the activities of a gang of Tolstopyatov brothers . In reality, the Rooks were prototyped by members of another family gang from the Rostov Region - the brothers Peter and Vladimir Bilyk and the husband of their sister Athanasius Stavnichy (in the film he was bred under the name Osadchy). It was Bilyki and Stavnichy, on the night of October 13-14, 1977, who shot the traffic police - junior police lieutenant Gennady Bogatikov and senior police sergeant Georgy Vernigorov, from a Kalashnikov assault rifle stolen earlier on the 934th kilometer of the Kharkov - Rostov-on-Don highway with a soldier [1] .
