Bokkadassa

Boccadasse ( Italian: Boccadasse , league. Boccadaze ) - the old area of Genoa , where sailors live. It is located on the eastern side of the Corso Italia stroll, Genoa's main seaside boulevard, one step from Via Aurora, a typical narrow Ligurian street called creuza.

Boccadasse

The origin of the name is not clear. One of the most plausible hypotheses is that the name comes from the shape of the coast on which the area is located, so the toponym may be a Genoese abbreviation for the name of the donkey's mouth - boca d'aze . According to another theory, the name comes from the stream that used to flow through the village - asse , so the name can mean spillway asse .

Bokkadassa attracts tourists with a narrow beach located on the eastern side of Cape Santa Chiara , and a castle that was built on top of the cape in modern times in imitation of the Middle Ages . In the middle there is another tiny beach, consisting of cobblestones, on which the boats of local sailors rest [1] .
