Biography
Mario Rossi studied in Rome with Ottorino Respighi (composition) and Giacomo Setaccioli (conducting). Upon completion of education in 1925 , he took the place of assistant Bernardino Molinari , who headed the Augusto Orchestra . In 1937 - 1946 Permanent conductor of the Florentine Musical May festival, in 1938 conducted the premiere of the opera Anthony and Cleopatra by Gian Francesco Malipiero . In 1946 - 1969 The main conductor of the Italian Radio Symphony Orchestra in Turin , toured with him in Brussels ( 1950 ), Vienna ( 1951 ) and Salzburg ( 1952 ).
Among the recordings left by Rossi are Domenico Cimarosa ’s opera Secret Secret, The Barber of Seville by Rossini , Don Pasquale by Gaetano Donizetti , Masquerade Ball , Othello and Falstaff Verdi .
