A sleeve is a part of a machine, a mechanism , a device of cylindrical or conical shape (with axial symmetry ), having an axial bore into which the mating part enters [1] .
Depending on the purpose, there are bearing bushings, fixing, transitional, connecting, etc.
Adapter sleeve - a tool used on metalworking equipment for installing a tool with different Morse cones , machine tooling designed for mounting the tool, the geometric shape and dimensions of the shank of which do not coincide with the geometrical shape and dimensions of the machine hole.
- On a lathe, a transition bushing is used to install the tool in the tailstock , the fixed center in the headstock.
- For a milling machine, the transition sleeve is the main transition element, which allows to significantly reduce the costs of technological preparation of production.
