Biography

Born in the family of a musician. In 1964 he wrote the first story, in the same year he entered the Leningrad Electrotechnical Institute , which he left at his own will, after which he was drafted into the army and served 3 years (1966-1968) in the Arctic . In 1970 he entered the Faculty of History of the Leningrad University , which he graduated in 1976 .

After the first publications in local newspapers, Halperin succeeded in 1971 in printing two stories in the almanac “Young Leningrad”. Together with the young philologist E. Belodubrovsky (under the pseudonym K. Begalin) wrote the play “It was a boy of the thirteenth year”, which was staged in 1972 at the Leningrad Theater of the Young Spectator .

In 1978, he married a Swiss subject and in 1979 left for Bern , retaining Soviet citizenship . He has worked there since 1980 in the Historical Museum.

Creativity

Received recognition thanks to the story "Bridge through Letu", written in 1975 in Leningrad and published in 1982 in London . In 1981, he received the Vladimir Dahl Prize for this novel in Paris . This is “a literary description of the reality of artistic fiction, where there are various kinds of reality interpenetrating and interdependent; the image of reality, the literary creation of a new reality and showing them in this unity. The story of the story - meeting, love, death from an accident - is reduced to a minimum, it gives the author the opportunity to change the angle of analytical and complete reflection of the narrative, thereby blurring the boundaries of time, space, life and death ”( Wolfgang Kazak ).
