Geography
Udora district is located in the north-west of the Komi Republic , in the basins of the Mezen and Vashka rivers, which have 140 tributaries. It borders on the Ust-Tsilemsky , Knyazhpogostsky and Ust-Vymsky districts of the Komi Republic and the Leshukonsky , Pinezhsky , Verkhnetoyemsky and Lensky districts of the Arkhangelsk region .
The relief of the region is a slightly hilly, sometimes almost flat plain, intersected by river valleys; the most significant ridge of the Timan Ridge , the Chetlas Stone (463 m), comes from the northeast.

Verkhnemezensky complex reserve, Bright Botanical Reserve, Yertomsky Botanical Reserve, Pavyuzhsky Botanical Reserve, 6 marsh reserves, Lake Yertomvad - a water monument of nature, Botanical Thicket Botanical Reserve in the Verkhne-Vashkinsky Forestry.
History
On the General Map of the Vologda Province of 1823, on the Mezen River, the village of Rozhdestvensky is indicated (in honor of the Church of the Nativity of Christ). The district was formed as part of the Komi (Zyryan) Autonomy of the Northern Territory on July 15, 1929 from the abolished Ust-Vymsky district . Until 1921, Udora was located in the northern part of the Yarensky district of the Vologda province, until 1780 - in the Arkhangelogorod province .

Part of the Komi population is Udory , an ethnic group of Komi-Zyryans who lived in isolation for quite some time and therefore formed their own dialect of the Komi language.
According to the 2002 census: Russians - 45.4%; Komi - 40.9%; Ukrainians - 5.1%; Belarusians - 1.3%.

The Law of the Komi Republic dated April 28, 2017 No. 40-РЗ [18] merged the administrative territories of the urban-type Blagoevo village with its territory and the village of Yertom with its territory into one administrative territory - the urban-type city of Blagoevo with its territory.

Economics
The basis of the region’s economy is forestry and woodworking. The number of industrial enterprises - 13, of which logging - 12, food - 1. Agricultural enterprises of the region have a livestock bias. It is planned that the Belkomur project railway, which will connect the village of Vending with the Arkhangelsk village of Karpogory, will pass through the territory of the district.
