The National Salvation Committee or (KNS) is the authority of the period of the Civil War in Chechnya , opposition to the Dudayev regime. In November 1994, the KNS forces raided Grozny . A large number of Russian contract servicemen participated in the raid.
History
The first authority that organized the armed struggle against the Dudayev regime, headed by its former supporter Ibragim Suleimenov .
On December 16-17, 1993, the KNS, along with the field commanders of Chechen volunteers in Abkhazia, surrounded the residence of Dudayev and put forward a number of political demands (including calling parliamentary elections, delimiting the powers of the president and prime minister, creating a Sharia court, etc.). However, by the end of December, field commanders went over to the side of the president.
In January 1994, the KNS units attempted to attack the positions of government troops near Grozny, but on February 9 I. Suleimenov was captured by members of the State Security Department , after which his group disbanded.
It was replaced by the Provisional Council of the Chechen Republic .
