Dobromilsky castle

Dobromilsky Castle ( Ukrainian: Dobromilsky Castle ) or Herburt Castle is located on the top of a steep and high Blind Mountain (556 m above sea level), which is 4 km northeast of the town of Dobromil ( Ukr. Dobromil ), Lviv Region .

The first wooden castle was built on this site in 1450 by Nikolai Herburt and burned by the Tatars in 1497 . The construction of the stone castle was started by Stanislav Herburt in 1566 immediately after the Polish king Sigismund Augustus granted the city of Dobromil Magdeburg Law , and was completed at the beginning of the 17th century by Jan Schasny Herburt . In 1622, the castle passed into the ownership of the Konetspolsky . After the partition of Poland, the castle was demolished by order of the Austrian government.

The octagonal entrance tower , fragments of walls 2 m thick, the foundations of the other three towers and the moat have survived to our time.
