Biography

Born into a peasant family in the village of Konstantinovka (now Melitopol district of Zaporizhzhya region ). He graduated from the 7th grade of the school, the factory apprenticeship school (now Melitopol Professional Lyceum [1] ) and worked as a turner at the motor plant in Melitopol .

In 1940 he was drafted into the ranks of the Red Army. During the Great Patriotic War he was a gun commander of the 17th artillery regiment of the 137th infantry division of the 48th army of the 1st Belorussian front . Petty Officer Odinets was one of the first to use the gun crew to cross the Narev River and take a position in the Kachka area. September 4, 1944, left alone at the gun, for about 5 hours reflected the onslaught of the enemy, knocked out 3 tanks. For this feat, Peter Trofimovich received the title Hero of the Soviet Union (star No. 6110) on November 18, 1944 .

After the war, he graduated from the Poltava Military School, from 1946 - in reserve, he worked as the chief of staff of the civil defense trust of Melitopolstroy , was awarded the Order of Lenin , the Order of the Patriotic War II degree , the Order of the Red Star , and medals. He died on March 1, 1975. He was buried in his native village.

Memory

One of the streets of Konstantinovka was named in his honor, and a memorial plaque was installed on the high school building where he studied.
