Biography
Born on September 27 (October 10), 1892 in a village of Komarov, now in the Turinsky district of the Volyn region of Ukraine, in a peasant family. Ukrainian. He graduated from a rural school. He worked in his native village.
In the Red Guard since November 15, 1917 [1] . In the Red Army since April 20, 1918. Member of the 1st World War and Civil War. Member of the RCP (b) / CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1920. In 1926 he graduated from the Kiev United Military School, and in 1933 - advanced training courses for command personnel. Member of the Great Patriotic War since June 1941.
Deputy Commander of the 2nd Guards Order of Lenin of the twice Red Banner Order of Bohdan of the Khmelnytsky Cavalry Division (1st Guards Cavalry Corps, 1st Ukrainian Front) of the Guard Colonel Joseph Belykh with the first echelon of the division under the enemy’s fire crossed the Oder river north of the city north Ratibor (now Raciborz ).
After the crossing, the guard, Colonel I. Belykh competently and skillfully led the seizure of the bridgehead on the left bank of the Oder, which facilitated the crossing and further advance of the units of the 1st Guards Red Banner Zhytomyr named after the Council of People's Commissars of the Ukrainian SSR cavalry corps.
Then the brave cavalry officer participated in the crossing of the Spree (Spree) river, and the capture of the German city of Ortrand.
By April 22, 1945, the 2nd Guards Cavalry Division fought to the Elba River near the town of Riesa, defeating six enemy battalions and liberating two concentration camps with Soviet prisoners of war.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of June 27, 1945 for exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the struggle against Nazi invaders and the courage and heroism of the guard shown to Colonel Belykh Joseph Nazarovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the award of the Order of Lenin and the Golden Star medal "(No. 8761).
After the war, I.N. Belykh continued to serve in the army. Since 1959, the Guard Colonel I. Belykh - retired.
He lived in the district center of Aleksandrovskoye in the Stavropol Territory. Died July 18, 1959. He was buried in Krasnodar at the All-Holy Cemetery .
