History
The Moscow Theater “Pyotr N. Fomenko Workshop” was founded in July 1993 by a decree of the Mayor of Moscow. However, the fomenki themselves [ clarify ] consider the date of birth of the "Workshop" in July 1988, when Peter Fomenko recruited a group of students to his training workshop at the directing department of GITIS . Graduates of the Fomenko Workshop in 1993 formed the basis of a young theater. Today the theater troupe has three generations of fomenok. [one]
Theater building
In 1997 , the premises of the former Kiev cinema on Kutuzovsky Prospekt were transferred by a decree of the Moscow government "P. Fomenko Workshop". It was two small rooms that could hold no more than 100 spectators. The recording of some performances was half a year ahead, because they could not hold everyone. In 2005, with the support of the Moscow government and VTB Bank , the construction of a new theater building began. By January 2008, the theater moved to a new room on the Taras Shevchenko embankment [1] .
The new multi-level building of the theater is located on the high slope of the Moscow River. On the roof of the building there is a lawn and a flower garden. The building is faced with natural stone using aluminum and steel panels. The interior of the theater was equipped according to the requirements of Pyotr Fomenko himself. The theater has two stages and two halls for 450 and 150 seats. The Great Hall is a classic theater with boxes, an orchestra and an amphitheater. Transformable proscenium allows you to arrange an orchestra pit or increase its depth so that the action of the play can unfold directly in the hall. A complex of elevation and release mechanisms and transformable shields are installed in the two-tier room of the small hall, with which you can not only change the dimensions and proportions of the hall, but also open it to the external space - the embankment and the panorama of Moscow City [2] .
