Biography

He was born on February 6, 1921 in the village of Shyroka Greblya, now Vinnitsa district, Vinnitsa region of Ukraine, into a peasant family.
Ukrainian.
In 1940 he graduated from the Vinnitsa College of Soviet Trade and at the same time an aero club. He worked as a merchandiser.
In the Red Army since 1941. In 1943 he graduated from the Borisoglebsk Aviation Pilot School .
In the battles of World War II from November 1943. Member of the CPSU (b) / CPSU since 1944.
The commander of the 6th Separate Guards Assault Aviation Moscow Red Banner Order of the Suvorov Regiment (335th Assault Aviation Division, 3rd Air Army, 1st Baltic Front) of the Guard, Senior Lieutenant Nikolai Balenko, on March 1945, made one hundred and a hundred Il-2 aircraft thirty-two sorties for reconnaissance and attack of enemy troops, causing the Nazis significant damage in manpower and equipment. Personally shot down two enemy aircraft and two in the group.
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of August 18, 1945, for the exemplary performance of command missions at the front of the struggle against Nazi invaders and the courage and heroism of the guard shown, Senior Lieutenant Balenko Nikolai Filippovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union with the Order of Lenin and the Gold Medal The Star ”(No. 8707). After the war, N.F. Balenko continued to serve in the Air Force.
In 1946, he graduated from the Krasnodar Higher Naval Officer Aviation School.
Since 1955, Lt. Col. Balenko N.F. in reserve.
He lived in the city of Krasnodar, where before leaving for a well-deserved rest, he worked as a senior merchandiser.
He died on January 21, 1994. He was buried in Krasnodar.
