Amos Manor ( Hebrew עמוס מנור , birth name Arthur Mendelovits , October 8, 1918 , Szeged , Transylvania - August 5, 2007 , Israel ) - Head of the Israeli General Security Service from 1953 to 1963.

Biography
Arthur Mendelovits was born in Szeged , Transylvania in October 1918 . At 16, he became one of the founders of the Zionist organization in Transylvania. Then he went to France to enter the university for an engineering degree.
In 1940, Transylvania, formerly part of Romania , became part of Hungary and Arthur was drafted into the army.
In May 1944, Arthur, his parents, two brothers and a sister were sent to the Auschwitz extermination camp . The whole family died, and he was transferred to the Mauthausen camp in Austria .
After his release from the camp, he began working in the Romanian branch of the organization for illegal immigration of Jews to Palestine, " Mossad le Alia Bet ." The name Amos Manor was his clandestine pseudonym. He was fluent in Hebrew , English, French, Hungarian and Romanian, Yiddish and German.
In 1949, Amos Manor arrived in Israel, where he joined the security service and headed the East European department of the Department of Non-Arab Affairs. In 1950, he headed the entire Department for Non-Arab Affairs.
In 1952, Manor became deputy head of Shabak, and in 1953, in connection with the departure of Easy Dorota to Mossad, he became the head of the service.
Amos Manor led Shabak for 10 years and retired in 1963 .
After that, he worked on the boards of directors of a number of companies and banks, as well as a consultant.
Manor had a wife and a son.
