MUR’s senior inspector, Lev Gurov, goes on a killing trip on duty, and it’s not easy - the young and beautiful mistress of a richly furnished apartment, Elena Kachalina, was killed, and the murder was hastily and rather badly staged as an accident. Since nothing was stolen from the apartment, the inspector rejects the robbery version. Four suspects of the murder appear in the case: Elena’s husband Igor, friend Tolik, Denis, a neighbor on the landing and concierge Vera. The motive for the murder is found in equal proportions for each suspect: Elena commanded her husband, he was “with her,” Tolik could get tired of being “an errand boy” with Elena and being “on the hook” with her, Elena was strict with Vera and picky, and Denis since his student years was hopelessly in love with Elena, and she knew this and used Denis for her own purposes. And now, detective Gurov needs to strain all the convolutions, apply all his experience as an investigator to get to the truth, and from the four suspects to finally figure out the true killer.
