Biography
Oleg Smirnov was born in New Kakhovka, Kherson region [2] .
After leaving school from September 1984 to August 1985, he worked as an operator of automatic lines at N. Kakhovsky Electric Machine Building Plant. From September 1985 to November 1985 he worked as a mechanic at the Odessa Experimental Experimental Plant [2] .
From November 1985 to January 1988 he served in the Soviet Army [2] .
From April 1988 to October 1991 he worked as a driver at the Elektromash plant in Tiraspol [2]
From November 1991 to February 1992, he served in the Internal Affairs Directorate of the Transnistrian Moldavian Republic [2] .
In 1992-1997 studied at the Academy of the FSB of Russia with a degree in jurisprudence [2] .
In 1992-2001 served in the Ministry of State Security and the Security Service of the President of the PMR , also in April 2000, in one of the messages of the press center of the MGB, the PMR appeared as a serviceman of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation [3] .
From November 2003, Deputy Chairman of the Board of JSCB Gazprombank (Tiraspol), from 2004 to 2009, Chairman of the Board of Shareholders of JSCB Gazprombank [2] [4] .
Since June 2009, he worked as a representative of the PMR President on issues of socio-economic interaction with the Russian Federation in the rank of minister [4] [5] .
Political career
In 2005-2010 he was a deputy of the Supreme Council of the PMR [1] , a member of the Committee on Economic Policy, Budget and Finance.
In 2006, he was elected Chairman of the Patriotic Party of Transnistria .
In 2009, he was elected Chairman of the Social-Patriotic Bloc [6] .
In 2010, he was elected chairman of the Patriots of Transnistria movement, created instead of the Patriotic Party, which merged with the Republican Party [7] .
After combining the RFP and the PDP, he retired from politics [8] . Journalists note that this happened even before the unification, when he moved with his wife to Moscow [9] .
Criminal prosecution
In 2011, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation charged Oleg Smirnov (who is a citizen of the Russian Federation) with charges of embezzlement of 160 million rubles sent to the PMR as humanitarian aid. Smirnov did not appear on the summons for interrogation and the IC of Russia announced his intention to forcibly deliver him to testify [10]
In the Russian Federation, a criminal case under part 4 of Art. 160 of the Criminal Code of Russia (theft of another's property by appropriation and embezzlement, committed by a group of persons by prior agreement, on an especially large scale). [eleven]
In November 2011, searches were conducted in Russian companies owned by Oleg Smirnov. [12]
