Fragments ( Fugitive Pieces ) is a drama directed by Jeremy Podesva based on the novel of the same name by Anne Michaels , which won the Orange Prize ( 1997 ). The film premiered on September 6, 2007 at the opening of the Toronto Film Festival .

Content
Story
The film tells us the story of Jacob Bearer who had become orphaned in Poland during World War II . After that, he is accidentally noticed by a Greek archaeologist , and rescues him, trying to take him out of the occupation zone. The story is told simultaneously in two times - in the present, and in the past, when Jacob was a child.
