Serpukha dyeing sometimes reaches 100 or more centimeters in height.

Inflorescence is a multi-flowered basket , flowers with petals of red shades.

Achenes are oblong, 3-5 mm long, 1-2 mm wide [3] .

Distribution and Ecology

The birthplace of the species is the temperate zone of Europe , where it is very common. Introduced to North America [4] . Prefers low-shaded places with moist soils .

Meaning and Application

Serpucca juice is yellow [5] . The plant is used to obtain yellow and green dyes for fabrics , hence the name [6] .

Taxonomy

Sometimes the species Serratula seoanei is considered as a subspecies of the serpukha dyeing Serratula tinctoria subsp. seoanei ( Willk. ) Laínz [7] . The dyeing actual itself is defined as a subspecies of Serratula tinctoria subsp. tinctoria .
