Biography

Born on April 30, 1938 in the Olerinsky tundra of the Nizhnekolymsky ulus of the Yakut ASSR .

He graduated from the Herzen Leningrad Pedagogical Institute (1962), graduate school of the Institute of Language, Literature and History (now the Institute for Humanitarian Studies and Problems of the Small Peoples of the North SB RAS ). The topic of the dissertation is "Compound nouns in the Yukagir language."

Since 1968 - researcher at the Institute of Language, Literature and History of the Yakutsk Branch of the Siberian Branch of the USSR Academy of Sciences.

At present, he is the chief research fellow at the Institute for Humanitarian Research and the Problems of Small Indigenous Peoples of the North of the SB RAS .

Brother of artist Nikolai Kurilov and writer and artist Semyon Kurilov .

Creativity

He began writing his first poems in 1961. The first works were published in 1962 on the pages of republican print media. About 20 books were published in Yukagir, Russian, Yakut, Estonian.
