Biography
Born in 1919 in Tartu in a dyer family. In 1924, the family moved to Tallinn , where Solomon Sahar graduated from the local Jewish gymnasium in 1936 . He also studied music with professors from the Tallinn Conservatory Arthur Lemba ( piano ) and Johannes Paulsen ( violin ). In 1937 - 1938 he studied in the violin class of the Prague Conservatory named after Otakar Shevchik with Otto Shilhavi. In connection with the occupation of Czechoslovakia and the outbreak of World War II, he was forced to flee to Estonia through Yugoslavia , Romania and Odessa , however, on June 14, 1941, he was expelled with his family to a settlement in the city of Malmyzh, Kirov Region .
He worked as the art director of the regional house of culture, organized a traveling concert team for touring the region. In 1944 he was transferred to Kirov to create a regional pop orchestra. Since 1962, he directed the Kirov Regional Philharmonic Society for many years. He organized the Kirov tour of such musicians and artists as Mstislav Rostropovich , Galina Ulanova , Nikolai Slichenko , Eduard Gil , Alla Pugacheva .
July 3, 2009 in Kirov, on Volodarsky Street, 100, a memorial plaque was erected on the house where Solomon Borisovich lived in recent years.
