Myrrh , Smyrna ( ancient Greek. Ρρρα , Σμύρνα ) is a character of ancient Greek mythology [1] , daughter of the king of Cyprus Kinira and Kenhreida, mother of Adonis (father and grandfather at the same time - in ancient Greek mythology Kinir).

She sang with sinful love for her father and, using a false name and darkness, quenched her passion - sat down with him during the festival of Demeter . The father, having opened a fraud, wanted to kill her, but Mirra managed to escape. In the land of Sabea, it became a myrrh tree . Elythia pulled a baby Adonis out of a hole in the bark [2] .
In other sources, it bears the name of Smyrna . Foan's daughter. Her mother said that her daughter was more beautiful than Aphrodite , and she inspired Smyrna with love for her father [3] . Turned into a tree myrrh [4] . Mother of Adonis (according to Paniasid) [5] . The poem "Smyrna" was written by a Roman poet of the 1st century. BC er Helvius of Zinna . This poem, which was the subject of admiration of Catullus , has not reached our day - only a few lines have survived.
Dante, in his Divine Comedy, places her in the 8th circle of hell as a sub-actress.
Asteroid (381) Mirra , discovered in 1894, is named after Mirra.
