Biography
Born in the city of Alatyr, Simbirsk province in 1912 .
In 1929 he worked as a lighter at the Central Documentary Film Studio . In 1930-1935 - assistant operator, since 1935 - operator.
In 1937 he graduated from the camera department of the State Institute of Cinematography ( 1937 ).

On the eve of the impending war, on March 25, 1941, the head of the Main Directorate of Political Propaganda of the Red Army hosted a meeting of cinema workers on defense topics, as a result of which an order was issued to create a special cameraman group, which included V. In 1939–45 he was a military man, then (since 1941) he was a front-line operator, deputy chief, head of the film group of the Western Front .
