Story
The main character of the film is Olga, a resident of Leningrad , divorced, works at the institute, one of her 5-year-old son Anton. Her neighbor friends are also unhappy in their personal lives: and the childless Valya, a kindergarten teacher, endlessly figuring out relations with her fiancé Alexander, a rude hockey player, and Larisa, an avtobaza accountant, also divorced and raising her son alone.
Olga is in love with her colleague, but Vadim is married and does not dare to leave his family. Rare, hasty meetings with him leave a bitter sediment in the woman.
Once, guests gather at Vali, Alexander's school friends - Veniamin and Herbert. The personal life of both is also not arranged and Olga’s words about the family sink into their souls. The first to offer himself is Benjamin. At 36 years old, he was never married, still lives with his mother, has very peculiar ideas about family life and disappears from Olga’s house on the very first night of his unlucky “bridegroom”.
The “Fairytale Prince”, an imposing Muscovite Herbert working in Switzerland , appears in Olga’s apartment when it is required to calm the raging Alexander. A relationship is established between Herbert and Olga. Even aggressively opposed to men, Larisa believes that her friend is finally lucky. But Olga hesitates with a response to Herbert's proposal for marriage. But when she gives her consent and they, together with Anton, go to Moscow to draw up documents for going abroad, Vadim catches up with their car on the way. Olga leaves Herbert, confused and perplexed, and returns with Anton and Vadim to Leningrad. However, the illusion of happiness does not last long: Vadim can not decide to leave the family, and in the future Olga will again be lonely.
Facts
- The film premiered on October 21, 1985.
- Mostly the film takes place in the Tolstoy House , in its yards or near it. The Tolstoy house in this film serves as a kind of “actor” of the crowd, playing along with the heroes of the film and creating a certain mood.
- The main roles were originally to play Natalya Andreichenko and Sergey Shakurov . But at the last moment Andreichenko refused and left for the USA with Maximilian Schell , and the role of Olga was rewritten under Elena Safonova. Shakurov, barely starting to act in film with her, also refused to work in the film, and Vitaly Solomin was approved for the role of Vadim, who had previously played the role of Dr. Watson in Maslennikov in the television series “The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson” . However, in a fishing scene where Vadim and Olga kiss, Shakurov's legs are shown.
