A contemporary of Apelles , was considered a master in depicting human emotions and passions. He painted: “The Battle with the Persians” - for the Elatian tyrant Mnason (the artist received 100 min for each of the hundred figures), “The Ruined City and the Dying Mother and Child” (taken by Alexander the Great to Pella ), “Asking”, “Sick” , “A tragic actor with a boy”, “Theseus and Ariadne” (bought by the king of Pergamum Attalus , later taken to Rome ), and others (all the works of the master are known only by descriptions).
