Description
The lake occupies a typical hollow basin , embedded in 70–80 m in moraine loam and open only in the extreme northwestern and southeastern parts. High (up to 35 m, in the north-west and southeast up to 10 m) and steep slopes in many places break straight to the water. They are covered with dense shrubs, powerful oak trees and spruces stand out here and there. Underwater slopes of the basin are also very steep (up to 30-40 °). The coast and the bottom in the coastal zone (up to a depth of 10–15 meters) are sandy and sandy-pebbly, at greater depths the bottom is covered with silt, clay and sapropel (in bays).
The reservoir is weak. For a complete change of water takes at least 6 years. The water mass is stratified , with a high content of oxygen in the entire thickness.
7 small streams flow into the lake, the streams flow into the lakes of Sho and Svyadovo. Apparently, underground keys play an important role in feeding the lake.
Near the lake are the villages of Dolgoe, Zyabki , Krivtsy.
Plant World
Due to the structural features of the basin, the lake is overgrown weakly. Coastal thickets are very narrow, and only in the shallow waters of the north-west and southeast there are plants with floating leaves. To the depth of 5–7 m, the rotapole and brilliant rdest are widespread, on the slopes of the sublittoral to a depth of 15 m - water mosses fantinalis.
Animal World
Rare relict crustaceans Limnocalanus macrurus [3] and Pallasea quadrispinosa are found in the lake .
By the nature of the ichthyofauna, Lake Long Long typical sigovo - snetkovy reservoir. In addition, there are eel , pike , roach , ide, perch, burbot, tench, blea and other fish in the lake.
Ecology
The natural uniqueness of the lake, the purity of the water, and the habitat of rare species of animals were the reason for the fact that in 1979 the Long Lake was declared a hydrological reserve of republican value [4] .
