Biography
He lived and worked in Ghent (where his house, a monument of Rococo architecture, is still called Hotel Snoeck [1] ) and in the small Flemish city of Ronse (where the prospectus was later named after him).
Part of the Snook collection, which included 1,145 instruments, was in 1902 the most important acquisition of the Berlin Museum of Ancient Musical Instruments. According to the authors of the guidebook “Early Keyboards in European Museums”, “Snook was supposed to be a worthy collector: in addition to the meeting that went to Berlin, another part went to the Brussels Museum and the third to St. Petersburg ” [2] (in Musical the historical museum created by Konstantin Stackelberg - 363 instruments [3] ).
