Deidamia ( al-Greek. Δηιδάμεια) - the daughter of the king of the island in Greek mythology Skyros Lycomedes [1] , which Thetis before the Trojan War, hid her son Achilles - his mother had dressed him in women's clothes, hoping to avoid predictions that her son would die under the walls Troy Deidamia met with Achilles at the festival of Athens [2] . She became his lover [3] and gave birth to his son Neoptolem [4] .

In art
Deidamia is the heroine of André Campra 's opera (1735). She is also mentioned in Dante 's Divine Comedy as being in the first round of hell .
