Speed

Propulsion - the quality of the vessel to have and maintain a given speed under given conditions with minimal power consumption of the mechanisms installed on it. Of the two such vessels, the best speed is that which develops greater speed with the same power of the main ship engines or the same windage .

Theoretical calculation of speed generally does not give reliable results due to the need to take into account a large number of factors that are difficult to determine. Movement in the design is estimated by calculations and by model tests in the experimental pool , after the construction of the vessel, the elements of speed are determined in the course of its sea trials.
