Pneumatic transport is a technique for transporting bulk and piece ( pneumatic mail ) cargoes under the action of a compressed or rarefied gas mixture (usually air).
Pneumatic conveying options for bulk materials are:
- Dense transportation in which the phase of the bulk material is transmitted by a pulsed method
- Sparse - implies a continuous method.
Pneumatic transport systems (PTS) are divided according to the method of creating a traffic flow and the purpose of use:
- forcing TCP. They are developed on the basis of pneumo-chamber pumps (PKN), pneumatic jet pumps (PSN) (injection pneumatic transport).
PTS injectors are designed mainly for the regime of transportation in a dense layer ( dense phase ) with high material concentrations and low flow rates.
- vacuum (suction)
Suction PTS are developed on the basis of fans, water ring pumps. They are also used to move powdered materials.
- combined
The pneumatic transport system (PTS) includes the following main components
- feeder - a device for introducing material or air mixture into pipelines,
- pneumatic and material pipe systems
- dischargers with air filter,
- blower
- receiver material.

Use of pneumatic conveying systems (PTS) in Russia
In Russia, more than 200 pneumatic conveying lines were commissioned to pump alumina, soda, sodium tripolyphosphate, apatite, cement, olivine, ash, clay, SMS powders at refractory, construction, chemical, and other industries: the Bogoslovsky Aluminum Plant (Krasnoturyinsk) , Ural Aluminum Plant (Kamensk-Uralsky), Bogdanovichsky OJSC Ogneupory ( Bogdanovich ), OOO Teplit ( Beryozovsky Sverdlovsk Region), Fores LLC (Asbest), Starocementny Plant LLC ( Sukhoy Log, Sverdlovsk Region), Kirovgrad Industrial Mixes Plant ( Kirovgrad ), Irkutsk Aluminum Plant , Pikalevsky Alumina Plant ( Pikalevo, Leningrad Region), Nikolaev Alumina Plant (Nikolaev, Ukraine), Magnesite Plant ( Satka, Chelyabinsk Region), EuroChem-Belorechensk Mineral Fertilizers (Belorechensk, Krasnodar Territory), Procter and Gamble-Novomoskovsk LLC (Novomoskovsk, Tula Region), Technoceramics LLC ( Shadrinsk, Kurgan Region) .
