It is located in the central part of the region 9 km north of Dorogobuzh , 1 km west of the R137 Safonovo - Roslavl highway, on the banks of the Chervitsa River. 9 km north of the village is the Safonovo railway station on the Moscow - Minsk line .
History
During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in October 1941 , liberated in September 1943 . [one]
