He graduated from the Musical Lyceum of Pesaro , student Annibale Mengoli . He was the first double bass in the orchestras of La Scala Theater and the Roman Opera, participated in the American tour of the orchestra conducted by Arturo Toscanini . The author of the fundamental textbook "New Method for Double Bass" ( Italian: Nuovo Metodo per Contrabasso ), as well as the textbook "History of Music and Instrumental Schools" ( Italian: Storia della musica e delle scuole strumentistiche ) and the book "Bow Instruments and their Creators" ( Italian Gli strumenti ad arco ei loro cultori ; both 1928 ). He wrote a number of compositions for double bass, including a concert for double bass with orchestra in A major, 18 etudes for double bass with orchestra, 24 caprices for double bass and piano, 24 etudes-caprices for double bass, etc.
