The Geneva Conservatory ( French Conservatoire de musique de Genève ) is the oldest of the Swiss conservatories , founded in 1835 by the philanthropist Francois Bartoloni and located in Geneva (part of the classes takes place in Neuchâtel ). It currently unites the Geneva School of Music ( Fr. L'École de Musique de Genève ), in which music lovers study, and the Geneva Higher School of Music ( Fr. La Haute École de Musique de Genève ), in which professional musicians are trained. The conservatory includes the Center for Early Music, established in 1975 , and the Faculty of Music and Movement, which dates back to the Jacques-Dalcroze Institute of Rhythm and relies heavily on its methodology. The Conservatory is also one of the co-founders of the International Competition of Performers in Geneva (since 1939 ).
